“Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.’” -Matthew 22 37-40

cccwelcomesyouChrist’s Catholic Church welcomes you and not just some of you but every one of you! We are a radically inclusive church and that means everyone!

Keeping the main thing, the main thing, our love for Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and our love for one another, Christ’s Catholic Church stands in the great, though all too often lacking, Christian witness of LOVE for the world and He who created it.

We are an ecumenical free catholic communion of individual Christians and various ministries who support catholic unity. We have come together with at least one unifying motive: a love for Christ, His Church, and the Sacraments.

We are open to traditional, conservative, moderate, progressive, and liberal thought, doctrine, and liturgical expression. Members of this communion walk many paths and come from diverse Christian traditions, but a common thread that binds us is a deep abiding love of Christ, His Church, and the Sacraments. That is our centering point. That is our unity.

While we are well aware of the differences among us and the variety of beliefs this communion will encompass, we will attempt to be the kind of community that we believe Jesus called us to: one of faith, hope, and love. Hanging on to that calling let us focus on our unity and show charity in those areas where there is no unity. Remember the advice of a great Celtic Christian, Saint Cuthbert, “Do not ever think yourselves better than the rest of your companions who share the same faith.”

Our communion is open to all who are interested in us: Anglo Catholics, Episcopalians, Independent Catholics, Old Catholics, Orthodox Catholics, Roman Catholics, and Christian’s from various walks of faith. All are welcomed here! We simply ask that we abide in charity with one another. Accept those around you for who and where they are in their spiritual journey. However, take heart, acceptance, does not always mean agreement. Respect for your own integrity and beliefs, which are of equal worth and value, will not always allow you to agree with others. Agreement is not always necessary, but acceptance is part of love, and God tells us love is necessary. Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions or FAQ page. Christ’s Catholic Church: An Ecumenical Free Catholic Communion

So what does this phrase mean and what kind of church are you?

- Ecumenical – Ecumenism at its heart is a movement to restore unity to all Christians. It encourages an openness in regards to self-examination and the critical examination of one’s faith. It also encourages shared ministry and fellowship with other Christian people, to the end that Christ’s prayer for unity might be fulfilled. We welcome all Christians and acknowledge, as did the ancient Christians, that any worship done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is celebrated and valid.

bpcarlfamily- Free – A church which has no higher authority than Jesus Christ who’s authority rests in the leaders of that particular local body of believers. Believing that the authority of the church is found completely in Jesus Christ through the office of bishop, a free church is not a national church or even a church governed by a pope, archbishop, or patriarch et cetera, but rather a group of believers that find their freedom at the local level, lead by a single bishop, who, with their bishop, are free to worship and meet God as they feel called. A free church is also not beholden to the government. The Church belongs to Christ and not the State. The Church is a free body that can not belong to anyone other than Christ. The Church will not be a product of the State, employed by the State, regulated by the State or in any way responsible to the State. To this end Christ’s Catholic Church is a part of the “Free Church” reality.

- Catholic – A body of believers sharing that great tradition of the liturgical and sacramental faith that has survived, through the Apostolic Succession, since Christ walked upon the earth. We are the church of the apostles, sharing in the three primary creeds of the ancient apostolic faith, The Apostle’s Creed, The Nicene Creed and The Creed of Saint Athanasius. We are catholic in that we celebrate the traditional seven Sacraments, Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation, Matrimony, Ordination, and Unction.

bpricks- Communion - A natural connection between a renewed people who find an intrinsic unity in the Body and Blood of Christ. Not an administrative church of brick and mortar or even one of canons, dogmas, and doctrines, but a living, breathing interconnectedness found in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the breaking of His Body and the pouring out of His Blood.

A little bit more about us…

Believing in Jesus does not mean believing in doctrines about him. Rather it simply means to give one’s heart to Him at its deepest level. Believing with the heart in relationship with Him makes you a mystic. In believing this way you too can experience God firsthand!

Our vision is not about following some set of rules or regulations that men have set down. It is about following Jesus, the Son of God, Redeemer of the world, and Lord of our lives. We believe there are many folks in this world who are hurting and who are without community, who have been “thrown away” by “the church.” We take the stand that the Church should help foster and build a sense of community upon the personal experience of Jesus Christ, not destroy it. “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 And to those ends we are committed to “bring back the wandering.”

karlcongregationWe don’t ask that you believe and act exactly as we do. We want you to discover your own spirituality and your own personal relationship with God. However, together we can help each other do exactly that by sharing our experiences, insight, knowledge and love. Our communion is built upon diversity, imagination, freedom, love, and acceptance. We don’t care to have the biggest jurisdiction, with paper parishes and empty dioceses. We care about welcoming you, God’s children, into a community where you can continue on your own spiritual journey only not alone. We are creating a communion that believes with its heart so that we might all experience God firsthand, “…that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

We welcome you and not just some of you but every one of you!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAWe are an Evangelical, Liturgical, Sacramental, Spirit Filled, and Generously Orthodox Catholic Church, and offer a home to all who have been seeking a sacramental church not bound by man made dogmas and doctrines, but rather free in the Holy Spirit. Christ’s Catholic bishops hold valid lines of Apostolic Succession: the authority Christ gave to His Apostles on the Day of Pentecost which has been handed down from generation to generation through the laying on of hands. Read more about the validity of Old Catholic ordinations/consecrations from a Roman Catholic perspective: Are Old Catholic Orders Valid?

Traditionally we believe in the Seven Sacraments, The Apostle’s, Nicene, and Athanasius’ Creed. More than that, you’ll have to ask a particular bishop, priest, deacon, or lay person.

10368897_10152397768495091_8254710727373694336_oWe are a radically inclusive church and that means everyone! To that end we affirm the equality of every person in life, faith, sacrament and service, regardless of ability, sexuality or gender, appearance, culture, vocation or theological opinion. Christ’s Catholic Church, is an ecumenical free catholic communion in the Old Catholic tradition, sees itself as only one expression of God’s Truth among many such Christian expressions and it holds firm to the belief that the Church really is One. It knows no national boundaries, no ethnic allegiance, no historic founder except Jesus Christ, no imperial court, and no secular government. Being truly free in the “free church” tradition, it has known neither papal prince nor earthly king. It seeks to be truly universal or catholic and ecumenical, serving all of God’s children with love, welcoming all to His Sacraments, and inviting all people to His care and fellowship. It does so regardless of race, creed, sex, sexual orientation or preference, relationship status, historic tradition, or state of grace, and at the same time holds fast to the apostolic faith. We’re another way to be catholic and yet be who God has made you to be.
